Association of non-nutritive sucking habits with speech sound disorders: A scoping review

چکیده

The impact of non-nutritive sucking (NNS) habits on dentofacial structures and occlusion is well proven. It has been hypothesised that NNS also effect speech due to its dentition oral musculature. However, the results existing studies are inconsistent, therefore this scoping review was undertaken systemically evaluate literature identify any research gaps. database search resulted in 869 which 861 articles were excluded as they duplicates, irrelevant, published languages other than English, data not available. remaining 8 full-text evaluated for their eligibility included present review. After qualitative analysis studies, we conclude associated with sound disorders children. quality evidence satisfactory, more detailed measures needed completely understand disorders.
